China’s economic growth is poised to accelerate again as local companies continue to break out in a country where COVID-19 control measures have become the norm. Kmind, a leading Chinese strategy consulting firm, has been looking inward and breaking through since its inception. In 2019, Kmind received the Silver Constantinus Award granted by the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) upon their first submission. The following year, 20 of its strategic consultants became Certified Management Consultants (CMC).

As a firm representing China strategy consulting, Kmind has been actively engaged in various ICMCI activities in recent years. Guided by the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC), the firm continues to raise the international profile of the Chinese consulting industry.

In August 2021, Kmind received international recognition again when Mr. Xie Weishan, President of Kmind Strategy Consulting, was awarded the ICMCI Academic Fellow designation, a mark of distinction in the global management consulting community.

The past few years have seen Kmind create peak moments amid global competition, turning the international spotlight on China’s consulting industry.

In January 2021, Kmind joined the United Nations Global Compact. Together with outstanding companies from more than 160 countries and regions, Kmind is committed to building a better, sustainable world through concrete actions in human rights, labor standards, environment, and other fields.

In April 2021, the company was officially certified as a CMC-Firm. Launched by ICMCI in 2013, the CMC-Firm program provides international recognition for consulting leaders from across the globe.

The ICMCI Academic Fellow designation, awarded to Kmind in August 2021, recognizes academic practitioners from around the world who have contributed to the study and teaching of management consulting.

To apply for the ICMCI Academic Fellowship, candidates are required to have published multiple academic papers on traceable research results representing the highest levels of the industry, to be engaged in teaching in the management consulting field, and to have extensive practical experience with management consulting cases. Most of the approved ICMCI Academic Fellows over the years have been professors from world-renowned universities, such as the University of Southern California in the United States, the University of Ottawa in Canada, and Durham University Business School in the United Kingdom.

ICMCI Academic Fellows are selected based upon the recommendation of the local IMC. A total of 65 management consulting experts from around the world have made the list since 2013, including four from China. They are either professors or PhD supervisors with an impressive academic track record, or experts in the management consulting industry with rich hands-on experience.

With more than 20 years of experience in strategy consulting, Xie Weishan has achieved a particularly worthy level of excellence in the research and teaching of management consulting worldwide, as evidenced by his ICMCI Academic Fellowship. Under the guidance of the CEC, he will work with other ICMCI Academic Fellows to promote theoretical innovation in management consulting, drive forward the global consulting sector, and showcase the power of Chinese business wisdom in the international arena.

“The superior man does not himself magnify his doings, nor himself exalt his merit.”

“The large roc will one day rise with the wind and soar high into the clouds,” said Weishan after receiving the ICMCI Academic Fellowship, emphasizing that the destiny and strength of a country are the foundation upon which a company thrives. Similarly, for a country or company to be recognized for its soft power, it has to be deeply rooted in its own culture. The unique strategy consulting model created by Kmind is based on the Chinese people’s confidence in our own culture, theory, and path. By drawing on ancient Chinese wisdom such as the holistic view of The Art of War and incorporating classical Western business theories, they have blazed a new path for strategy consulting in China.

This is also an important reason why, in addition to being widely acclaimed among Chinese entrepreneurs, Kmind has won continuous affirmation from the ICMCI and recognition from the international community.

“Though soaring high, we have yet to touch the sky.” Having forged its 10-billion legend for five companies, Kmind continues to break through and move forward. Dedicated to helping Chinese companies build a competitive edge and elevating the industry to positive progress, Kmind will keep innovating to bring Chinese wisdom to the global consulting industry while advocating its competitive strategy that fuses East and West.
